Built mainly because of its pond and links to London, it is now a successful town with good town centre and leisure facilities. It holds the Fleet Half Marathon, a major warm-up for the London Marathon, the Fleet 10k, Fleet Carnival and the Fleet and District Festival including lights switch on. Fleet Town Centre is home to many well known high street stores such as Next, Waitrose, Boots, Clarks, Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Peacocks, Sainsbury's, WHSmith and Marks and Spencer as well as lots of inderpendant stores selling food, clothing, services and goods. And staying over night couldn't be easier, with hotels to fit every budget. Home to many great tourist attractions, shopping areas and areas of natural beauty, North-East Hampshire is a great place for a day out.
