What is happening?

National Rail in conjunction with Hampshire County Council, Hart District Council and South West Trains (part of Stagecoach) is building a new station, footbridge and upgrading shelters at the Fleet Station site. A new station building will be built with clock tower, cafe and shop, larger ticket office and better toilet facilities, as well as a glass atrium. Bicycle parking will be improved.

A new footbridge will be installed with lifts and stairs.

New shelters will be put in and facilities to install automatic ticket gates at a later date will be provided.

There may be enhancements to the parking situation and forecourt while the building takes place or at a later date. Better crossing will be provided with the works from the Waterfront Business Park with the installation of two zebra crossings across the two roads and resurfacing.

Where will I buy my tickets in the meantime? What happens while the bridge is closed?

A small ticket office will be located alongside a temporary newspaper stand in the bus turning circle of the station forecourt while the station building is being built. Pedestrians will have to use the temporary bridge to access Platform 1 from the station building and platform 2.
